Cybercriminals frequently buy and sell stolen credentials and personal information on the dark web. That’s why HacWare’s Dark Web Report is an essential tool in identifying exposed accounts and responding to potential threats quickly. This guide walks you through how to access and interpret the Dark Web Report inside the HacWare platform.
What Is the Dark Web Report?
The Dark Web Report provides visibility into whether any of your users’ email addresses have been exposed in known data breaches. It is automatically updated every 2 hours with the latest incident data collected from dark web sources.
HacWare only monitors and reports on email addresses that are:
Active users with a HacWare license.
Added to the system through your client portal.
How to Access the Dark Web Report
To locate the report:
Log in to the HacWare Client Portal
Navigate to Reports
Select Dark Web Report
Understanding the Dark Web Report Table

Once in the report, you’ll see a detailed table that includes:
Column | Description |
Name | The email address of the monitored user |
Total Incidents | The number of dark web incidents associated with that email |
Last Modified Date | The most recent date that breach information was updated |
To explore specific incidents for a user, click the Plus (+) icon next to their record.

Expanded Incident Details Include:
Account: The breached website or service where the data exposure occurred.
Data Exposed: The types of data leaked (e.g., password, IP address, etc.). (Note: the report will not display the actual sensitive data.)
Incident Date: The date the account’s information was leaked to the dark web.
Analyzing the Dark Web Count Chart
The Dark Web Count chart visualizes the total number of incidents over time. You can filter the chart by:
Year
Month
This helps spot trends and gives context for when the majority of breaches occurred for your organization’s users.
Final Thoughts
Proactively monitoring the dark web can help reduce the risk of credential-based attacks. HacWare makes this easy by continuously scanning and surfacing exposure incidents related to your users.
If you spot a match in the report:
Encourage users to change affected passwords immediately.
Consider enabling multi-factor authentication for added protection.
